Term 1

Our I wall
Students had a lot of fun creating their individual Is for our wall. They brainstormed together as a class before starting and came up with hundreds of words describing themselves including artists, dancers, soccer players, readers, writers, great friends, creative and many more. The Is are now complete and are a colourful addition to the wall above my desk and a fabulous reminder to all of us of what an awesome class Room 16 is.

Seaweek
25.02.17 to 5.03.17
Seaweek was a week of learning about the sea. Creatures of the Antarctic was our class book and the students were fascinated when looking at the food chains at what would happen if the plankton disappeared. A reading group read the book Sea giants and then presented reports in the form of posters to the class. Lastly we created poems in our writing groups, every student wrote a line which was then published on our reading wall alongside the posters.

Rotation

Three days a week all of the Year Threes took part in a learning rotation. They learnt swimming with Mrs Kilkolly, ball skills with Mr Boriboun, Drama and Mandarin with Mrs Northover and Miss Wen and fine motor skills with myself. It has been wonderful seeing the progress made over the term and we have been lucky that the weather enabled us to swim right up into March.

Kelly Sports

Kelly Sports visited our school on February 9th and gave us a preview of some of the different sports they teach in their after school programmes. Our class got to try out hurdles, cricket, rugby and hockey and had a lot of fun. Afterwards everyone in the class wrote a recount about their experience and these were published on our writers wall. The hurdles and rugby were definitely class favourites.
